AWS previews Amazon Bedrock AgentCore

AWS announced the preview of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, a modular set of services for deploying and operating AI agents. The release named isolated runtime sessions, memory, gateway, browser, code-interpreter, identity, and observability services. AWS said AgentCore could work with models inside or outside Bedrock and with open-source agent frameworks. The preview was announced for selected AWS regions, including two U.S. regions.

Engineering relevance

The announcement separates familiar agent concerns into explicit services: identity, tools, isolation, memory, and observability. That is useful architecture vocabulary, but each component still needs policy and evidence appropriate to the application. A managed platform preview does not make an agent's tool permissions, data retention, or business actions inherently acceptable.

Modular services

AWS listed AgentCore Runtime, Memory, Gateway, Browser Tool, Code Interpreter, Identity, and Observability among the preview services. It described Runtime as providing isolated sessions and long-running workload support. The Gateway was presented as a way to expose APIs and services as MCP-compatible tools with less integration work.

Preview boundary

The announcement said AgentCore services could be used together or independently and were not limited to models hosted in Bedrock. AWS listed initial availability in U.S. East, U.S. West, Sydney, and Frankfurt. The source describes a preview release and should not be read as a statement of universal regional availability or production suitability.
