NVIDIA introduces the AI Data Platform reference design

NVIDIA announced the NVIDIA AI Data Platform, a reference design for storage providers building infrastructure for AI inference and data-query agents. The company said the design combined accelerated computing, networking, and NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, including NIM microservices and AI-Q blueprints. The announcement named certified storage providers and described an aim of helping agents retrieve and reason over enterprise data with lower latency.

Engineering relevance

Agent quality depends on the data boundary as much as on the model. A reference design for storage-backed AI systems highlights the need to document retrieval sources, index freshness, permissions, and evidence paths. Hardware or platform availability alone does not establish that an agent's answers are accurate, authorized, or grounded in the right organizational data.

Reference design

NVIDIA described the AI Data Platform as a customizable reference design for certified storage providers. It combined accelerated computing, networking, and software intended for inference workloads. The stated use case was AI query agents that retrieve and generate responses from enterprise data with specialized infrastructure behind them.

Software components

The release named NVIDIA NIM microservices, Llama Nemotron reasoning models, and the AI-Q Blueprint as parts of the surrounding software stack. These are platform components, not an assertion that a particular enterprise data source is accessible, current, or suitable for use by an AI agent.
